ONE DAY, ONE HEALTHY HABIT
This october we’re starting a new series to promote healthier and more conscious habits. Every day we'll "unblock" a simple tip to improve our wellbeing and consumption style. So we can choose the ones that fit us best and go for them!
1. FIND BALANCE
Find balance between your work life and your personal life, being productive at work but also having time for yourself and your loved ones.
2. FIND PEACE
Explore and give mindfulness practices a chance to help you cultivate peace within yourself. Learn how to meditate, beathe effectively, live in the present, have a positive mindset, develop love for yourself, practice self-care...
3. REFLECT REGULARLY
Set aside 5-10 minutes at the end of each day to reflect on your day’s choices and set conscious intentions for the coming days.What went well? What made you feel misaligned? What have you learned? What are your wins? What will you do differently in future? What goals are you working towards?
4. REDUCE SINGLE-USE PLASTICS
Reduce the amount of single-use plastics you consume in your everyday life by reusing containers, packagings, bags... and choosing different and more recycled alternatives.
5. ALWAYS RECYCLE
It is super important that you always recycle at home, at least the basics: plastic, paper, glass, food, used oil, batteries... It will help reduce greenhouse gas emissions, among a lot of other things.
6. UPCYCLE
Reuse creatively! Transform waste materials or unwanted and useless products into new and more valuable items. For example, turn old clothes into aprons or cloths; or broken pots into flowerpots or utensil holders.
7. BE ACTIVE
Staying active is one of the best ways to keep your body healthy and feel better, physically and mentally. Find a sport or activity that you like and take time to practice and enjoy it. It’s a game changer!
8. EAT CONSCIOUSLY
Pay attention to the foods you eat, where they come from, what they look like, how they taste, how they make you feel. Eat a balanced diet with a little bit of everything, and your cravings and discomfort will start to subside.
9. TAKE TIME FOR YOURSELF
Make time for self-care, whatever that means for you.Write about your day, cook your favorite food, go to the spa, get flowers, play a sport, go for a walk, watch the sunset, be with your family... it will fill you with joy, energy and well-being.
10. ANALYZE YOUR PURCHASES
To achieve and switch to a more conscious consumption, you have to ask yourself some questions: Where are you shopping? Where is it produced? What are workers’ conditions? What processes have they used? Do I really need it? Is there a better product alternative? How long will it last me? Will I use it?
11. STOP BUYING FAST-FASHION
You know the why, so: HOW?Unfollow & unsubscribe from brands, identify your personal style, reimagine your closet, seek for second-hand alternatives, limit your purchases, take care of your clothes, stay informed, choose sustainable and transparent brands, be willing to pay for a real change...
12. SUPPORT REAL BRANDS
Shop from brands that show a real, authentic and transparent commitment when it comes to their products and messages. Even if the prices are a little higher, supporting these brands can make a difference and will help you buy less and value your purchases more.
13. BUY LESS IMPACTFUL PRODUCTS
The first step towards a more conscious consumption is to buy less. When that is not possible, you should try to buy kinder and more sustainable products. Products and productions that use local, recycled, and renewable materials and energies.
14. SHOP LOCALLY
Large corporations and chains are taking over, and it is harder for small and local businesses to keep going. And we cannot let that happen. Let’s support km0 products and productions, let’s explore what’s around us, let’s create community and future growth. There’s a new and enriching world right around the corner.
15. BUY IN BULK
Buying in bulk is a way to reduce single-use plastics, packaging, fuel and waste. As a consumer, it helps you save time and money: if you shop less, you have fewer impulses. And it can be fun too! You can go with your own little bags and buy just what you need from the freshest produce.
16. CONSUME THE LEAST PACKAGING POSSIBLE
The best packaging is NO packaging at all, but that’s impossible sometimes. So you need to go for the MINIMAL packaging, and the most recycled and recyclable, of course. For instance, avoid buying individual products, use reusable bags, buy in bulk...
17. STAY INFORMED
To have healthier and more conscious habits, you need to constantly educate yourself on the subject. Ask a lot of quesitons: Are there any projects going on? Are they passing any new laws? Is the brand really sustainable? How can I help? Where can I improve? Staying up to date, informed, curious, and educated is a huge step.
18. ACCEPT YOURSELF
Learning to accept yourself for who you are, physically and mentally, will bring peace and calm to your life. Forgive, acknowledge and love your abilities. You are special and unique.
19. HAVE FUN
Have fun taking time for yourself. Have fun learning how to recycle. Have fun practicing a new hobby. Have fun analyzing brands. Have fun starting a new night-time routine... The most important thing of all of these tips is that you have fun doing them. Or you won’t do them at all!
20. DON’T GET OVERWHLEMED
